It was a lovely experience - the rooms were delightful. And the staff were all amazing. I would definitely recommend it to anyone I know.
There is nothing I did not like, but I would mention that it might be more convenient to have a phone and aittle fridge in the room. Apart from that everything was perfect.
The whole experience of staying in Muntri Mews and in the heart of Georgetown is wonderful and priceless. The place is excellent and the services are top class! Totally value for money!
Probably should include the option to include breakfast from the Mews Cafe into the accommodation package.
Very unique room decoration and large beds. Accommodated us and our son easily. Staff very friendly and helped us solve all the problems we had. My wife did not bring tooth brush and one of the staff even rode scooter to one of the 7-11 to buy one for us.
My wife and I loved this little boutique hotel. The layout and design is so welcoming and the rooms are tastefully done ,a mixture of Victorian colonial and modern comfort. Every little aspect has been beautifully carried out with exquisite attention to detail ,from the modern bathroom fittings to the old Chinese slide bolts on the doors. We couldn't fault the staff. Chona in particular was so helpful but I found all of the kids on staff went out of their way to make our stay more than enjoyable. Chris , the owner lent a low keyed personal note and took the time to give us some of the background and history of Penang and Georgetown. If you are passing through this part of Malaysia you would be crazy to stay anywhere else
I've been trying to find something bad to say about Mutri Mews to no avail. The only thing was our inability to stay an extra night due to the place being booked out.
Hidden gem and amazing for the money
Proximity to Chulia St and Little India. Great design, comfortable, great coffee.
Privacy, we learned way too much about our neighbors in the next room, we heard everything...
Fantastic location made it easy to walk around the old town, the friendly and smiling staff made the stay welcomed and the balanced large room was confortble.
Only problem, outdoors had plenty of mosquitos. Unconfortamble to dine outside.
The fitout was fabulous and the room very comfortable. Also good proximity to restaurants, shops etc.
The lights on the air conditioner are too bright and you need to cover somehow. It lit up the room at night like a beacon. Also the toast in your cafe was too thick, not crisp and a bit soggy in the middle! Apart from these very minor details, we loved our stay.
Excellent and friendly staff. I arrived early (0830) after a long overnight journey and the staff were very helpful, making me a much- needed pot of tea while I checked-in (and sending another to my room soon after). It was very hot in Georgetown and on my return from sight- seeing trips they were quick to offer me glasses of chilled water (a really nice touch as they could see that I was suffering in the heat). Room was lovely - very nicely furnished in a 'heritage' style. The room was accessed from a lovely verandah and there was a very nice courtyard below. Also, the hotel location is very good, being fairly central within Georgetown.
This is a minor issue, as I thought the hotel was great, but there wasn't much storage space. This wasn't a problem for me as I was travelling solo and stayed for only 2 nights.... But if there were 2 of you and you were staying longer then this might be a minor irritant.
Staff were excellent. Location perfect for exploring the wonders of Georgetown. Accommodation was unique, boutique and just excellent
Great boutique hotel with spacious rooms. Location is great as well. I really can recommend the hotel.
As to dining/eating there is a cafe at the hotel premisis, however it is overpriced and the coffee/espresso is not the best in town.
Beautiful rooms with all the necessary items. Lots of room and separation of spaces like beds and bathrooms. Design very up market and elegant. Staff wonderful and very helpful. The cafe at the front was a very welcome coffee spot- best in Penang.
Some noise issues with flow between upstairs and downstairs rooms. This is being investigated by management.
Great location close to little india red garden hawkers centre 2 minites walk, loved all the straits houses unfortunately for us the food and coffee and cocktails and ice cold beer made us not want to leave.the staff were all full of genuine smiles made our stay really nice ,we mainly watched the world go by .the owner chris who we had met earlier in the year atclove hall told us about local restaurants wrote down the names and what to eat at each place we tried a couple of places the were so cheap we felt we were'nt paying enough.prices were cheap at muntri mews by ausralian prices awesome mango margaritas.cant wait to try chris's other suggestions when we return next year
Only compliant beds really firm and if you are staying upstairs steps areVERY steep ok going up but not coming down more of and excuse to drink more magaritas
Muntri Mews is centrally located and makes a convenient home base for exploring the historical UNESCO area of Georgetown. The Mews Cafe is very good but a little pricey compared to other restaurants in th area. Hotel guests can use additional outdoor seating not available to restaurant patrons.
There is no specific reception desk separate from the cafe, so sometimes it's difficult to figure out who to tak to for requests (such as laundry or arranging an early/late check-out).
Munti Mews is just the most interesting and apt way to experience the hidden delights of old Penang. Georgetown is intriguing and thrilling for the traveller wanting to be part of a fast disappearing world. Muntri Mews was the perfect accommodation for my mum, in her 80's, and me, looking for the Georgetown I experienced 30 years ago. It is stylish and comfortable and restored with love and respect for the inherent history of the place ie old stables/coach house. The food is sensational and staff faultless. We took the option of their in-house driver/guide to help us explore the island, and we were so glad we did. I would go back in a flash!
